NHT104: RUMANASTONE – The Sound

Hi,

Welcome to this weeks NEVER HEARD THAT.

Sometimes a song comes your way that unexpectedly weaves a special place in your soul.

You were not necessarily looking for it, but there it was. And what a wonderful, beautiful thing that is.

This is what occurred me to when I happened to see a video for the song The Sound by Australian band RUMANASTONE. Goosebumps back then and Goosebumps still now.

I hope you enjoy this weeks NEVER HEARD THAT.

Cheers, Andrew Muecke

I am 42 years old and haven’t heard Rumanastone for many years. A few weeks ago I remembered the song “She”. It was purchased for me and has been living in my CD player ever since. It is the most beautiful song that I wasn’t ever looking for. Just listening to the radio to hear it that one time. It was really nice to read what you wrote two years ago.

      Hi daynakv79@gmail.com,

Thanks very much for making contact and your kind words.

Yes, the power of music – that immediate connection to a song can come through so many different ways – it is a beautiful thing that makes our lives so much richer!

      Cheers Andrew

I joined a FB page celebrating Aussie 90’s music last year and came upon Rumanastone. The Sound is a indie gem that should have gotten widespread appeal. Quite unfair I had to discover them 20 years late.
    Thanks for your small podcast

I’m off to track down the album.. 🙂

Thanks very much for your message Ruben. It has always remained a mystery to me as to why some bands seem to get industry support versus those that don’t – particularly here in Australia. It makes all the difference when you get that support. I too feel that Rumanastone deserved more – and also believe that The Sound is a particularly beautiful and emotive track. This podcast was my small way of trying to spread the word – and that even if only a few people pick that up from the podcast, then I would still feel like I have done a good thing!

What the hell. For the first time ever I will post to a random blog/site for the few who may read. I was the bass player for Rumanastone and to see these comments years later takes me back and sends shivers… RIP Ash and glad to see your songs remain alive in the most unexpected places…

      Hi Sam,

Thank you very much for your post.

When I came up with the idea for this podcast, “The Sound” was always going to be featured – it touched me deeply from the very first time that I heard it.

Know that what Rumanastone created together made a difference to many people. Congratulations.

      In kindness, Andrew
