Back in the 1990s, Australian band the UNDERGROUND LOVERS were gaining lots of credit points for their own distinctive blend of rock and electronica, particularly in the UK.

This was electronic dance music, but of the dreamy kind.

Real pretty stuff.

NHT021: U2 – Bass Trap

Hi,

Welcome to another NEVER HEARD THAT show.

U2 are a very well-known band.

They have been releasing albums since the 70s and are still going strong playing to massive audiences throughout the world.

What is less known is that on very, very rare occasions they record an instrumental track.

One of these rare tracks, Bass Trap is the feature this week. Lush an ambient sounding both like U2 and simultaneously not like U2.

NHT020: THE CARDIGANS – Losers

Hi,

Welcome to another NEVER HEARD THAT show.

Some say Abba, others say IKEA, but I say that THE CARDIGANS are Swedens best ever export.

Here is a band that seemingly came from nowhere in the mid 90s. They were able to reach the highest levels of the pop charts whilst effortlessly retaining their street credibility and chic – album after album.

They are the thinking persons pop band.
