Welcome to this weeks NEVER HEARD THAT.

We may often come across the phrase precocious talent when reading newspapers and the like.

In my humble opinion, it is the best possible phrase to use to describe FIONA APPLE.

Identified as a youngster, she was able to release her debut album at 17.

What I so admire is that she understood that she was about to gain a platform to have her songs heard by millions – but she didn’t change and she retained her wonderfully sophisticated originality.

And an adoring public paid her back for doing so.
