NHT004: SIMPLE MINDS – Theme for Great Cities
Hi,
For this weeks NEVER HEARD THAT show we are going back to the 80s.
Though not the commonly referred to 80s which was all about acts like Wham and Rick Astley.
For many, the 80s was an impressive time for music – the industry had changed and embraced musical acts with real originality.
This weeks NEVER HEARD THAT show focuses on one of those bands, SIMPLE MINDS. SIMPLE MINDS are a successful and well-known band, but I wanted to focus on one of their lessor known tracks, Theme For Great Cities.
I hope that you enjoy!
Cheers, Andrew Muecke

Ahhh, a bass and drum masterpiece! Ive been a big simpleminds fan, its New Gold Dream which is one of my all time favourites. Worn out old cassettes of that one. Still listen to on cd, but keen to bust out old the record as soon as I have a new turntable! Simple minds always liked the really weird song titles back then, “King is white and in the crowd”, …?
Good one Andrew for selecting this one.
Not my kind of listening…. but the commentary was super interesting!
