Hi,

Welcome to this weeks NEVER HEARD THAT.

Sometimes a song comes your way that unexpectedly weaves a special place in your soul.

You were not necessarily looking for it, but there it was. And what a wonderful, beautiful thing that is.

This is what occurred me to when I happened to see a video for the song The Sound by Australian band RUMANASTONE. Goosebumps back then and Goosebumps still now.

I hope you enjoy this weeks NEVER HEARD THAT.

NHT101: KATE BUSH – Cloudbusting

Hi,

Welcome to this weeks NEVER HEARD THAT.

In celebration of my 100th show, I am going to break my own rules, like I did with my 50th. Here are three hugely successful female artists.

Show 1 of 3, highlights true musical royalty, KATE BUSH.

It is probably a much easier job to focus on what KATE BUSH hasn’t achieved because she has given so much. This, I believe, is something truly special from an icon for all musicians and fans alike.

I hope you enjoy this weeks NEVER HEARD THAT.

NHT100: KING CRIMSON – Walking On Air

Hi,

Welcome to this weeks NEVER HEARD THAT.

When progressive rock, with its fusion of musical styles came into being in the mid to late 1960’s, it became identified as a genre requiring the highest levels of musicality.

Vast sprawling epics, with virtuoso talents on display by each band member was the expected norm.

UK band, KING CRIMSON, and leader, Robert Fripp are a premier example of this.

However, our focus today is on a track that represents the softer, more evocative side of the band. This one doesn’t intend to knock you out, it intends to sooth your soul.

I hope you enjoy this weeks NEVER HEARD THAT.

NHT099: THE LOTUS EATERS – When You Look At Boys

Hi,

Welcome to this weeks NEVER HEARD THAT.

Through our lives we can feel certain vulnerabilities and they make us uncomfortable.

The vulnerability of love, and loss, is perhaps the best example of all.

Then we hear a song that seems to put into words and music exactly what we are thinking – and we hold onto them.

When I heard this song by UK band THE LOTUS EATERS for the first time, it seemed as though they were looking over my shoulder at my life and how I was feeling.

Just another example of the many incredible powers of music!

I hope you enjoy this weeks NEVER HEARD THAT.

NHT098: MORCHEEBA – Bullet Proof

Hi,

Welcome to this weeks NEVER HEARD THAT.

In the nineties there was some very interesting musical mashups occurring.

UK band MORCHEEBA had a particular blend that went down very well with audiences.

They rode high in the charts for a number of years and were able to present highly cultured musical pieces with deep sophistication, often based around the plaintive vocals of their singer, Skye Edwards.

But they were also able to turn their hands to something much more down and dirty – like the pulsating groove of todays feature track.

I hope you enjoy this weeks NEVER HEARD THAT.
