NHT026: THE B-52’S – Girl From Ipanema Goes To Greenland

Hi,

Welcome to this weeks “Never Heard That” show.

‘Pop’ is sometimes used as a label to devalue a certain style of music.

I’m not so much into Top 40 music but if ‘pop’ is about making the listener feel good, then that has to be considered a worthwhile pursuit.

This track by the B-52’s is in my humble opinion, perfect ‘pop’. The back story to the song and the album it came from is one of utmost tragedy, which is certainly why it is not well known, but somehow amongst all of that they managed to create something of pure joy.

I really hope you feel that joy too.

Sing along with this weeks “Never Heard That”!

Cheers, Andrew

Hi, Welcome to “Never Heard That”.

Steve Hillage has had a long and rich musical history starting in the late 1960’s.

All this whilst being championed as a guitar virtuoso (and continuously accumulating honours from the industry at a fast rate!).
